    Thanks for your thoughts, Mark.

Just for your interest, I have done a restoration on the PzGren officers M40. It is the only cap that I will ever add a soutache to since it was screaming out for a complete restoration to it's former glory.
I'll add one pic and do a thread on the full restoration in the future. The soutache is quite bright but I'm not trying to pass it off as anything more than a restoration.

One heck of a restoration Mark!

Alright guys, wanted to post my latest acquisition. I had the lucky opportunity to snag this from a fellow forum member and am very greatful to have it in my collection. This has been an outstanding dak year for myself, added some rare items and am looking to see what else can happen before I leave everyone here for a short trip to the sand box. Hope you all enjoy the cap as much as I do.

The eagle was replaced by the forum member, so if anyone has an early cockade that would match the condition please let me know. Matt

She is a rarity as it has no side vents, and never did. NZmark has 1 or two of these. Seem to be harder to come by in my experiece. Solid cap across the board. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. Matt

Also it has lime green threads from the soutch, so its a pz. grenadier!!! Matt

Matt thanks for sharing this hard to find cap , I am sure NZ Mark is going to be thrilled to hear you have a makers mark to the inside liner ..

Mark G, what can I say, your helmet is to die for and your restoration on the officer field cap was well worth the effort ,, Absolutely Brilliant !

keep these dak items coming guys ..

                  Paul,

NZmark knows of said cap, pretty sure he knows she is maker stamped as well. It is a great cap and something that I couldn't pass by. Thanks for the wonderful comments. Matt

NZMark does know of said cap!
No, I don't have any m40's minus grommets, but yours example doesn't bother me in the least. If you have an order to knock out 500 caps by the end of the month, and your shipment of grommets doesn't arrive, what are you going to do?
                    Cool Cap!

                      Mark,

I thought you had an example like this one.... Either way its a sweet cap, gonna be a bit of time before I get to lay my hands on this one for a good ole inspection as im T-14 days and im off to the sandbox. But its a short tour, only 6+ months and then I will get to see it first hand Hope some more tropical caps come up for sale in the mean time!!! Its an addicting cap to collect, just wish they were a bit cheaper Thanks for the possitive comments. Matt

                        Hi Matt,
                        Indeed it is
                        And I'd like to
You are going to enjoy examining this one in detail once you get your hands on it....

I waited until I could take a couple of pics before chiming in on the congrats to Mark for that spectacular helmet! I thought a couple more pics of Giorgio's handiwork would do here... since this also came from him (Thanks Giorgio): M35 tropical LW with 1937 liner and chinstrap. Three coats of paint, tan inside and last coat has sand mixed in.

We only live about 20km from each other, so I was lucky not having to pay shipping!

Congrats again Mark, and a beauty job restoring that cap to its original glory. I definitely think the original owner would have approved... (nodding as he reached out to take his hat back).

                                Jjim,
That's a great looking helmet. It has one of the characteristics which I really love, the painted inner rim. I had been after a Heer example for years with this feature and finally added a very nice one last year.
                                Thanks for showing us.
