    Grouping

I'm not a document collector, but just found this grouping. For all you experts....does this stuff all look proper?

    Thanks!

      Hello Mark
Nice display even if this is not my field (and that's why I would not give my opinion).
Just for your information, the EK2 doc was signed by Obst. Fiebig, at that time C.O. of the K.G. 4 ("General Wever").
      FIEBIG MARTIN
      DoB : 07/05/1891
      DoD : 24/10/1947
Last rank : GENERAL d. FLIEGER
      Last position : FÜHRERRESERVE O.K.L.
      EK1 : 03/05/1940
      DKiG : 04/05/1942 as Gen.Lt. and NAKFÜ 2
      RK : 08/05/1940 as Obst. and C.O. of K.G. 4
      EL : 23/12/1942 (168th) as Gen.Lt. and C.O. of the VIII. Fliegerkorps

The EK1 was signed by Generalleutnant Kastner Kirdorf (and head of the LPA, The Air Force Personal Office). Kastner signed many KC documents at the beginning of the war and until the end of 1941. the stamp on this doc is the same than the one used for KC Preliminary Document
see the following thread for example belon, ging to François and used to foster the forthcoming article on KC documents

As for the pilot-observer doc, in the (very good) article coauthored by François Saez and Paul Williams, a very similar item is displayed (with the same printer co. mention on the left bottom part)

      the URL

      Regards

      Denis

only a little question regarding this outstanding group, did he own a pilot badge prior his pilot and observer one in 1.944? I have read that sometimes civil pilots flew with the LW several time before he received a military license, is this true?

        Thanks in advance

          Angel,

Good question. I must check the rest of the group. Maybe I will get back to you tomorrow.

I see no reserve at all in your group - simply perfect

When you start collecting docs, you are suspicious, for example the spelling of the first name "Ulrich" on some docs and "Ullrich" on others -but that means nothing, and you often find such "mistakes".

            No foreign docs?

Francois knows something, I think. Yes, some Foreign Docs too. And more not scanned yet.

And a few miscellaneous badges, all with the grouping. And did I mention the Pokal and the two Luft tunics.

You have a Spanish Pilot Wings, the one prior the Spanish Cross, this badge was created in 1.938 and was awarded as honorific to almost all German pilots who served in Spain, commonly it has a number and the name of the pilot in the reverse, but this is true in the Spanish pilots, I don't know if also in the german ones. nafortunately appears to be a very crude one, far away from the common jeweler models usually privately purchase by the Spanish pilots. Being the Pilot model I suggest that your oficer probably has the same qualification in the LW because the Pilot observer model has a star over the propeller.

                  Cheers

Not really my arena, LW stuff but its always a pleasure to see such a lovely high quality grouping such as this, truly great and thanks for sharing!

Ah, marvelous group! Italian awards are always nice, since the document gives a nice citation right there in the text-- even if they did manage to mangle his LAST name for a change! The Croat Order of King Zvonimir is great... so many nice things...

please post the tunics in Uniform Forum!!!!

                          Thanks Rick, Simon, and Angel.

Rick, maybe photos of the tunics next week. Since the tunic won't fit in the scanner (I tried already), I will have to drag out the 'old' Canon F-1 and load some analog film this weekend.

Very interesting example of a German-made Spanish War Cross. I have read elsewhere that German-made ones were of higher quality than Spanish-made ones... well, it seem that this is not the case . Could you post a closer scan of manufacturer's mark?

                            Best regards
