    Show us your twin IAB's

    Hi Guys,

Posting the pic of the twin JFS IAB's in the "Amazing Story" thread
lead me to the following idea. Why not start a thread where we try to find as many twin IAB's as possible.

Besides the fact that it would be intersing to see with how many we can come up, at the same time we would establish an valuable source of information for every member to use. Furthermore it would allow us to see if there were makers who didn't produce both the silver and the bronze versions.

I would suggest to limit this thread only to IAB's but It could be interesting to start a similar threads on eg. PAB or CCC......

So I will start with the 3 Twins in my collection by posting a side by side obverse and reverse scan. Alltough pin and catch setup may differ I think we should only post twins that show exactly the same Maker Marks. (eg. I will post 2 RSS badges with different mm than for example the RSS in Lorenzos collection so this would be an other twin.)

If you have relevant information to ad to your pics like eg repaired/replaced cath or hinge please do so.

Hope this leads somewhere and becomes an exhaustive thread.

    KR
    Philippe

                Hi Philippe,

                great idea this one!
It's a shame that right now till the end of the week I'm on vacation, but as soon as I come back home I will post the three twins from the JFS family

In the other thread I forgot to say your JFS silver is simply outstanding

                Cheers,
                Matteo

                  Hi guys,

Thanks for the input Lorenzo but please allow me to clarify a little further on what I would like to achieve. It was my goal to only go for perfect twins In bronze and silver. They sould share the exact same mm and only the pin an hinge can show minor differences.
Once we have a good pair it's not neccesary for someone else to show the same. Only exception If you think your pair is better in terms of general condition. When you feel this is the case please post them. At that moment the moderator should step in and delete the lesser pair.

For example the RSS posted by you is not a twin in the true sence. OK its by the same maker but what I would like to see is the same RSS mark as on your bronze but than on a silver one.

Same for the FZZS for sure the same maker but the layout on the reverse is quit distinctive. So here I would like to see that layout on a Bronze with the exact same reverse features.

The FLL an L/61 or also twins but their both Silver. So what we need here is another FLL in bronze and a L/61 in bronze than we would have 2 new twins in the sence I was talking about. I think your FLL an L/61 could feature in a thread called Same Badges (IAB,PAB.....) with different MM.

To Matteo please don't post other JFS IAB's unless you think there better examples than the ones shown. The goal of this thread should not be to accumulate 10 silver and bronze badges by the same maker.

If after everybody has posted his Silver and Bronze twins, then we could continue by asking for specifique badges. For example nobody posted twin RSS badges with the same MM als Lorenzo's bronze one. At that moment we could ask all our members if maybe somebody owns only the silver one and is willing to post it.
By posting it you give permisson that one of the moderaters handles the pic in to a side by side comparison with a twin and replaces the original by the twin Pic.

I know this probably sounds all very complicated and you should not consider this as a thread that will disapear from the bottom of the page in a week or so. No it will need ongoing effort to realise this but think of the end result. We will not only have determined all the makers of Silver and Bronze IAB's with their Major design differences but we also will be able to determine if for example there were certain companies that only produced the silver or the bronze version, the companies that for sure made the two version and maybe also that badges with slighty different mm only existed in one grade only. And of course if we can accomplish this we would have a very valuable reference work
that could be edited a little and saved in the members only forum.

Don't know what you guys think of this and would very much appreciate your input. I for myself am willing to put some coördination work in this but surely would appreciate some assistance from others.

So please let me know what you think of it maybe before posting more pics. I also think we could look at this as a test case just to see if this is feasible. If it is I think we could also try the same for other badges.

                          Philippe,

I don't have anything to contribute at present, alas, but I think it is an excellent idea and wholeheartedly encourage all to contribute.

                          Well done.

                          All the best,
                          Toby.

Well, this puts me right out of the game
..... but what about hollow versions of the same maker (in my case JFS)? Does it fit in?

                            Cheers,
                            Matteo

                              Hi Matteo,

If you have a silver and a Bronze hollow JFS IAB that would perfectly fit in.
