I found this a very interesting topic too, but could find very little info about it.
Some very small info on the unit itself (Fu.-Überwachungs-Kp. 625 /Nachr.-Nahaufkl.Kp. 957) :
In autumn 1944, it is listed in the Frontnachweiser under Frontleitstelle 3 (Oper) and
should have operated in the general area of Kutno (50km N of Lodz, 100km W of Warschau).
Dec. 1944, it is listed (then as Nachr.-Nahaufkl.Kp. 957) as within WK I (East-Prussia).
What I would be interested in general (and what is also related to this Wehrpass) :
To the best of my knowledge, there were 3 types of dedicated units intercepting "enemy" radio traffic :
- Nachrichten-Nahaufklärungs-Kompanien (operating at Army level)
(In addition, each divisional Nachrichten-Abteilung formed such a type of unit (with less personnel))
Task was to intercept radio traffic of the immediate opposing enemy forces, to track their shifts,
reinforcements and possible attacks. (This was his task at Stalingrad (and perhaps at the very end))
- Nachrichten-Fernaufklärungs-Kompanien
I am not sure under which HQ these were organized, but they aimed at the long range radio traffic of higher Headquarters
(Army groups, Kreml etc. ) (There were much less, perhaps ~10 ?!)
- In addition, there were Funk-Überwachungs-Kompanien

I found numbers: 612, 614 (=> became Nachr.-NAKp. 966), 616, 625 (=> became Nachr.-NAKp. 967) and in addition
a "Funk-Überwachungs-Zug Norwegen"
I could find no hint, what their task was. However, from the Wehrpass (Abwehr) and the German designation, I could
imagine that those few Überwachungs-Kp. had the task to watch the ZOI (=the Reich/occupied territiories) for spy radio traffic.
It would be nice, if someone could provide further infos on this !
I would also be interested into :
a) What is written in the Wp on p.20/ and especially 21 (sonstige Ausbildung)
b) whether the change in designation Fu-Überwachungs-Kp. 625 to Nachr.NA-Kp. 967 would also refer to a change in tasks ?
(I would expect that, but would be interesting to know ...)
