    Luft M43 Cap on E-Stand

    This one needs to be discussed;

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=963408

    Fake cockade and odd eagle, even without a good frontal view, IMO.

        Is one of the eagles wings sewn into the top factory cap stitching?? Kinda looks like it to me..Billbert

          The opinions on the insignia for this particular cap tends to be vast (original, not original, late war, reapplied etc). Any other opinions?

          Thanks.

            Gary, we need to see better photos of the insignia. Flat frontal views.

            Only Nick has stated he felt the insignia was original. Obviously, the cockade has been poorly applied. Better photos will show whether the wing tip is machine sewn down, but so far I don't see it.

            Strangely, I have seen folks watching this thread who really know, but for some reason they are not chiming in.

              Willi,

              I will try to get better pictures of the insignia, when time allows.

              Thanks.

                Original basic cap...better photos needed as for insignia but by this particular maker I would expect bevo cockade straight stitched and eagle either zig zag or straight stitched...it is just my experience with this maker

                    Thanks for the photos Gary. To me the cockade is fake and not applied correctly. The eagle looks fine.

                    Like Gustav mentioned, the cockade would be a machine sewn Bevo type. I have seen eagles on this maker that have been hand sewn or machine sewn.

                      Thanks to all for the comments. So, if I understand correctly, for this maker it should have a machine applied bevo cockade and a machine sewn eagle (Straight or zig zag). Which would mean that this cap most likely has had the insignia reapplied. IMO the eagle is hand sewn as well as the cockade (which could be a repro).
