The spange is a Eugene Schmidhäußler, am not familiar with WWI crosses but it looks good. But wait for others to chime in. Jim

parts look good, patina for me is a little odd. Has it been heavily cleaned?
          regards

Maybe a stupid question, but is this cross a 3-piece construction?

Or I need to have some goggles.

following the last picutres I would say yes. There is visible construction

The problem with an item like this, if all parts are original it was not made this way. The question is when were they put together? It could have been 10 years ago.

                    Cross is original one-piece Schickle.
                    Best regards,

Of course, one can never be 100% positive on these but it looks good to me! Nice parts, construction technique and patina are all good signs imho! I would have it in my collection!
