DRK/Red Cross 1st Class Neck Cross - 1937-39

Showing here a 1st Class Neck Cross (Erste Stufe) of the Deutschen Roten Kreuzes, 1937-39 with oakleaves, measuring 52mm with white enamel on the obverse and metal on the reverse. I would appreciate feedback and comments on this piece as to period originality or otherwise, please.

The ribbon may be.

Hi there is only one maker of the 37-39 award and that is Godet.
here is an original.
Also look at the design of your wreath and the un even ends of the legs.
The ribbon may be good

Ron, thanks for posting that reverse

John, compared to myself, I believe Pete has the upper hand when it comes to the decorations of the Red Cross, but I concur with his conclusion on the cross in question. There are way too many anomalies to even consider it being contemporary IMHO.

There were 2 different rears to the 37-39 award one without enamel and the harder to find enamel type.

Thanks for the comments and feedback which I have studied. Not trying to beat a dead horse here, but wish to make the following observations for consideration:

1. Oak leaves - the detail shown in mine (post #2 & #6) appears the same or very similar to that in the original example shown in posting #10. Could this part perhaps be original?

2. Wreath - the design of the wreath detail in mine shown in posting #8 is far more detailed than that in the original examples shown in postings #7 and #10.

3. Eagle Eye - while my example has no eye, I note that the eye in the example shown in post #7 appears to be metal, while that in post #10 appears uneven and as if "scratched" onto the enamel. While reference to examples of original Social Welfare awards may not be considered relevant to Red Cross awards, I would point out that in posting #21 of the thread referenced below, Tom Yanacek notes that one should "beware of any that have an eye depicted on the eagle". 4. Ribbon - from feedback above it appears that the ribbon on my award is deemed to be original.

I hope that my observations are valid and worthy of further discussion.
