German Army M-16 Camo

Good evening gents,

I collect primarily Wehrmacht-related material, but this afternoon I received this helmet (and a couple of other pieces) as the last items in a group I've been working on with the friend of a deceased U.S. Army WW2 90th Inf Div vet. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=947913&page=9

I think it's a pretty respectable example of a camo that's complete with its liner and full chinstrap. As these are not in my area of specialty I'd be interested in hearing your feedback on it.

One of the pillow pads still remains at the forehead, and although it is named, I can't make it out completely.

The exterior shots are oddly blurry looking but I think the camo looks great. The same is true for the liner and chinstrap. The liner pins have been removed at some point and the rear pin with the thicker head was put in the wrong hole. They don't turn up often this complete.

I can't make out the name. Is the maker stamp W.66?

If possible, could you post a couple clear close up pictures of the camo paint outside in natural light? Maybe a picture(s) of the eyelets/holes in the liner pad fingers, backside of one liner pad, and inside prongs of the liner pins/rivets. Thank you.

It was drizzling out by the time I got home tonight so I tried to take some pics again inside.

Considering the group this came in I have no doubts about its authenticity. I am interested in hearing your thoughts on the camo pattern and what's known about it (if anything)? Were certain patterns specific to certain units, time periods, areas of operation, etc..

Point of note - this helmet and the M-40 were absolutely filthy when I got them so I gave this a light wipe inside and out with room temp water and a drop of dish soap. I cleaned the leather pads and chin strap with Meguiar's leather conditioner.

I didn't take a pic of the back of the fingers on the other temple pad because the ends are splitting at the holes.
