    He Made It Himself

The WW1 veteran made his own medal bar, and I would suspect that he wore it proudly.....

Thanks for showing this, is it yours?
Come to think of that kind of home made type medal bars, most people tend to not buy them since it seems easy to make and rack of workmanship compare to makers medal bars.
But I think it has owners personality which makes this fairy interesting piece.

                Nice one Ron.
I've got a single parade mount that was made from an old post card.

The wives probably made these not the owners or awardees. Always nice to see. This is one example of an 1866 I picked up probably from an immigrant to Wisconsin. Came with an 1870/71 medal that was probably his as well. Bought near Green Bay. Hand made with ribbon with period clothing silk.

Very nice home made bars shown here

I tend to like these self made bars, here's one made by a German who fought in Finland in 1918 and participated in the capture of Helsinki as a part of the Ostsee Division. If I remember correctly, only 30-40 Germans attended in the 20 year jubilee of the capture of Helsinki and received the commemorative medal of the Capture of Helsinki 1918.
