    Tunic: ww2 or East German?

    Hi guys,

This was offered to me... but is it East German or WW2? And if it is ww2, what is a normal price to pay for it? Thanks in advance!

Theo, its design looks ww2 Austrian stile because of the very pointy pocket flaps. The cloth type is for summer and it is not an issue jacket but a rather private or fildmade one. However more pics would help in order to determine if it is pre or post war assembled jacket. If original and untouched "nowadays" excpect to pay anywhere from 500$ to 900$ IMO.

Hi Theodor, I don't think it is an East German item, but DDR is not my subject.

The tunic would appear to be a non standard lightweight summer tunic that has been tailored for an NCO. This was a popular practise. From your photos it looks good up to now. The pointed pocket flaps are interesting and remind me of Austrian (???) pre war uniforms? (Going from memory here ) The insignia looks good. Try and get a shot of the interior and see if the buttons are marked. I doubt the tunic itself will be marked.

I think anything under $500 will be a good price?

      Cheers, Ade.

PS Tony beat me to it but we seem to agree

Here are better pictures, there are no markings inside, only a 52 stamp. There is a big loop sewn inside to one of the shoulders. The buttons are marked, Extra Fein and a decorated letter A.
Unfortunately the offer comes from a friend, so can not try to convince him, that it is 100$ worth , but rather that it is not for me...

Hi Theo, I really like the cut of the tunic. It is similar to one I have in my collection with the old style back.

The buttons will be made by Assmann.

          Cheers, Ade.

Theo, from the pics and only from the pics the jacket appears OK. This is as far as I can go. The final decision is yours ( do I remember a thread regarding passports and a word revenge from my part

what are you talking about? I have never heard of zoo-passports! ....ops!

The decision is easy, unfortunately It comes from a good friend, it is far above of my price range now, so goes back to him, approved to be original and with a tag with the prices quoted
