    cold weather + visiting veterans and their birds

    Hello,

    Well i am just back from a trip towards the homeland of our hobby and did visit a few veterans (Luftwaffe persons / Glider background = Glider piltos and towing plane personal)

    This is a bird that was for 65 years in the original holders possesion untill i went by and he presented this badge + his officers dagger towards me as a present and remembrance towards all Lw.-soldiers who died in action. Needles to say i am very very happy once again.

    The background from the originl owner is the following :

    - Trained as pilot + was to see action on the following theaters of war :

    * French campaign
    * Kanal von Korinth (towing gliders)
    * kreta ( towing gliders )
    * Afrika (as officer with the lw.-feld.Regt. barenthin)
    * France + germany

    He was a transport pilot (mainly Ju 52) and was also a German cross in Gold winner .

    Cordial greetings and enjoy from a badge that has a near mint frosted like wreath (altough the scan does make it more dark then it is in real life )
