The colour of the " finish" is not even near the typical Schwerin gilding in my opinion.

Thanks for the heads up Steve.

If this is the case then the globe, hingeblock, mainpin and catch appear untouched.

What are they asking for it ??

            Regards,Martin.

Not quite untouched; it looks like the hardware has been thoroughly cleaned and there's a bit of white polishing paste still visible in the crevices on the hinge. (Also, the margin of the gold paint job is visible on the closeup.)

They're asking for a starting bid of 1100 Euro...

              Best regards,
              ---Norm

In fact, there are other serious problems. That globe doesn't look like the early aluminum Schwerin globe and the rivet doesn't look right either -- seems to have been replaced.

                Best regards,

Actually, the globe looks like a defective stamping of the poor quality Tombak globes found on the controversial "Level 3" zinc Schwerin AC badges (and the rivet too is similar to those badges). The top margin is cut off and there's an extra ridge on the bottom but it otherwise looks quite similar.

These "Level 3" zincers often show features suggestive of post-war assembly (as discussed in this thread) so it's not a good sign to see this globe on what is supposed to be an early war Tombak badge.

                  Best regards,
                  ---Norm

Yeah, I when I first viewed that badge my first thought was that gilt looks nothing like the typical Schwerin color.

Contact them, and I am sure they will remove the badge from the homepage!

Indeed, well spotted Steve, no doubts refinished for me as well.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
