Here are some pictures of my web/leather bayonet frog. It was originally posted on a thread on field gear where it got buried.I thought I'd resurrect it as a stand alone topic to solicit opinions. As most collectors are aware this is probably the rarest of all bayonet frogs. Originally designed for use by the SS it also saw use with the Army. Recently I've noticed that these frogs are being made for re enactors but their quality isn't good to be mistaken as original.
Anyway I think the one I have could be original but would like to hear what others have to say. On the earlier thread comments were made that it was LW because of the color. I personally think the color in this case had nothing to do with branch of service it was made for.
Here are the pics.
the first one shows my frog in comparison to one in the Bender series on Army uniforms and equipment. The major difference in this shot is the style of rivets at the top. However as you'll see in a later pic my frog also used the same style.
I also compared the webbing used to some known good examples of German webbing and I didn't see a problem.
