                    IMO it´s nothing strange about that. The producers of Third Reich awards in many cases also produced WW1 awards as WW1 awards were still in use during the Third Reich. I can see no reason to have one frame for 1914 ICs and another for 1939 ICs.

                        Well Ludwig .... as described in the Deschler book -- just the opposite . All attemps were made to make sure there were significant differences between the WW1 EK and WW2 EK .
                        Some WW1 makers did use post September 39 their Schinkel frames until they had new dies made up .

                          Does not sound very economic or logic to me... I mean, the cores are so very different already, why must the frames be different?

                            Hi this one is an example of the Ek2 WWi made in the 3er Reich era, was normally made for reposition to the WWI soldiers thats lost or broke his ones, br Oberst.

                              A more dominant appearance and stronger features than the Imperial version -- in the frame layout . 2 changes were made before settling a final version .
