I found a die flaw on a german cross

    Hello,
in the last time I tried to find out a little bit more about the german cross in gold, perhaps made by Deumer, Deschler or Godet.

The last time most things point to Deumer.

I have no evidence for that, but sometimes we will find it out .

But I think I found a further part of the puzzle.

I found a die flaw in the star bust and it seems, that every german cross of this maker has it too.

We know something similar on zimmermann wartime examples and for identification it is a helpful clue.

So please check your crosses and tell me what do you think about it.

    best regards

    Hi Pattex!
This is interesting, and possibly important!!
There appeared to be some kind of link between Deumer, Godet and Zimmermann during the war!
The Deumer 57 DK uses the same wreath as the wartime Godet, at the moment I am unsure who's backplate and starburst they used, but maybe you are on the way to answering that!!
It is also possible that Godet, during the TR period, didn't make a lot of parts themselves, maybe buying in from other makers to assemble themselves??
There is also the mystery of the possible wartime Deumer RK to solve, all these things are in some part linked, and even the smallest discovery on one piece could lead to a further discovery's in other pieces, both wartime and 57!!!

        Thank you guys!

Until now, every example of this variation has the die flaw .

Now we have to find a ww2 example , this could be a step forward...

        best regards

          Great observation, Pattex!! Thank you!
Just checked my DKiS and it has the same die flaw.

          Best regards

It would be great if this die flaw could be linked to wartime pieces with similar flaws, then we would know where Deumer got the dies from for the starburst, but it is entirely possible that they made some parts themselves, the starburst included!
If no other wartime made DK's exhibit this flaw, then we must conclude that Deumer did indeed make at least this part themselves!

The beginning die flaw also exists on wartime Godet pieces.

Godet is also the source of the Deumer wreath, so the link to the starburst makes perfect sense!!!

But was if from Godet to Deumer, or was it from Zimmermann to both Godet and Deumer?

                  Best regards,

That's more a wartime puzzle I reckon Norm, interesting though it is!!!
Eventually the wartime story may be known!!

Just checked my crosses and found a similar one on the bronze coloured starburst pieces.
On the grey starburst crosses I was unable to find the flaw though ???
