U-Bootfrontspange in Bronze Typ2 opinions please

    Hi.

I would like your opinions on this U-Bootfrontspange in Bronze Typ2.
IMO it looks good, but I have not paid any attention to the replicas that has been made for the past few years so I don't want to gamble on any badges.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
    André

It's interesting, we've often mentioned in past threads that Schwerin contracted out the production of the 2nd pattern U-Boat clasp to Adolf Scholze in Grünwald a.d. Neisse, Gablonz, as verified by Pavel's findings consisting of Scholze's accounting books listing Schwerin as a major customer and the ground-dug unfinished clasps found in Gablonz in the company of unfinished "AS in triangle" products.

The precise same grainy surface texture of André's clasp can be seen on this AS in triangle Minesweeper badge.

                    Best regards,
                    ---Norm

I have to agree with NOR-collector that this info is indeed interesting.
The Sub Clasp that you show is very nice. It looks just like the one I own. Happy Hunting ! Butch

You can also find the same surface texture on the A.G.M.u.K.4 Blockade Breaker which, combined with he catch and catch crimp characteristics, raises the distinct possibility that Scholze was a member of that consortium.

                            Beautiful clasp André!

Norm, I agree the reverses look very similar and this probably isn't a coincidence with the info we have now. If I remember correctly the AS in track PAB's also feature this same grainy reverse caused by multiple small zink bubbles.
                            Kind regards,
                            Giel

                              Norm,

What do think about the pin? Meaning, clearly, at least to me, the pin was not made in Gablonz. It is exactly the same as any other SB U-boat frontspange pin. So was it contracted out to a supplier as others have theorized even when the clasp was made in Berlin, then that supplier continued to ship the pin to the late war manufacturer?

It would indicate, if correct, that the pin was never made by Schwerin.

                              John
