Eagle L marked HSC in really nice condition

Picked this up at the same show as the all matching 1944 DOU 98k.
Only real detraction is the chip on the reverse grip.

This serial would put it toward the beginning of production? Or at least the first year or two?

Is there a serial number database on these?
You can tell the early war quality was there.
