Good stuff! That's the 2nd helmet in this color on WAF with a dome stamp..I know these can be faked but not in these examples!
The other example is shown in the Poll thread on these helmets, further strengthening the case that these are WW2 rebuilds for Mediterranean regions.
Can these dome stamps be compared? Oh never mind that's an Egyptian approval stamp

Nick , if it has a factory dome stamp on top of the tan paint it is not a rebuild but a factory assembled and painted helmet. Usually the city name is visible in the dome stamp which in this case should be Thale.
Thus I think now you need to find similar tan ET/ckl examples with dome stamps and do comparisons.
Knowing a liner band date would also be a good source of information.

Makes sense..."inspector's approval " stamp to appear only only freshly built ones, so appearing on later M42's manufactured like this from the ground up,
made specifically in this color for that theatre. I thought maybe totally rebuilt ones might also go through this inspection process if refurbished by a helmet plant.

Anyway the earlier types (M35/M40) were for sure rebuilt, reclycled, (with parts mix, various dates) so stripped and repainted or I guess also over-painted (including the dome and re-assembled), hence the mix that was found..M42 with 1943 liner pins makes sense too.
Either way it strengthens the theory (is it even a theory still?) that these are war time done in this colors.

Very interesting thread, enjoying the debate. Im wondering if all these lids, 35,40 and 42's were painted and built up in one factory? If this is the case then why would only the 42 model have a dome stamp and not the reworked 35 and 40's? Now if the ET model posted does have aThale dome stamp does that mean more than one factory having the same colour paint and i pressume some sort of factory paperwork were instructions were sent down from above to finish new helmets in this new colour.

Nice factory painted helmet in med colour as we discussed in the other thread recentlly and in a poll about these.
What next? Do we have any new thoughts?

I guess it was found in the Czech Rep. I thought all these were classified as post war refurb for egyptian contract. About the stamp... I know those can be faked so...just add.
BTW can you post the link to the other thread so i can read up what was been said about these repainted helmets?
