    Drk

DRK buckles are one of my favourite designs. So let's set the ball rolling with a nice one by Overhoff.

I have seen the exact same fault on the top right wing on a few of these which points to a flaw or debris in the die.

    Cheers

And a nice late war blind back "pot metal" variant. Unmarked.

Just managed to obtain a very nice Ges. Gesch 1. Anyone know who this maker was?

          Cheers

A sparkling group of the 1938 pattern DRK!

As you are aware, this is not a design that I am overly fond of, although the detail on all the buckles is really quite superb.

I think that the jury is still out towards the reason for the presence of the "1" appearing on some of the enlisted buckles, although I am sure that "1", "2" and "3" are known on both enlisted and leaders.

There is a publication which suggests that "1" signifies a code for the prime contractor (probably Overhoff), although of course the buckle was made by at least two others (JFS and R.S & S.).

Rather like some of the HJ's seen with a number "1", probably a manufacturers batch or production code, rather than designating the maker proper.

Was this buckle made by Assmann I wonder?

              Regards,

              David

Although in my opinion, not nearly as nice of an emblem, still a nice buckle.
