    Cache site...

Hello all…I thought this would be a good time to show six photographs from one of my STASI groupings that depict a discovered cache site with items from the site. At this time I am unable to provide much background on what was recovered from the site, but I thought it would be interesting to post the photographs to the Communist Bloc forum.

The first photograph depicts the site where an item was recovered of which the item (photograph two) appears to have been wrapped in soft metal and burlap. Photographs three and four depict the inner the substance that was used to protect the material. Photographs five and six depict the items that were being protected. The writing in photograph five reads <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:cs:smarttags" /><st1:NumConv6p0 sch="1" val="76">76</st1:NumConv6p0> -- Modrowska Zofia – <st1:NumConv6p6 sch="4" val="23 5"><st1:NumConv6p0 sch="1" val="23">23</st1:NumConv6p0> 5</st1:NumConv6p6> 43 and there appears to the Polish bird in the bottom right corner of the photograph and at this time unknown what its use was (again shown in photograph six). I have done some searches on the internet on the words Modrowska Zofia, but the replies that have come back are in Polish and unfortunately I am unable to read it. BUT never the less I thought this thread would be of interest to forum members. I hope you all enjoy it…<O</O

Background uses of a cache site: A cache site can have a number of purposes on how it can be utilized. The site can be used to hide materials or supplies from authorities or used to hide materials to be recovered in the future for operational employment. And a cached site can be used as a dead drop site to provide material from one person to another without either person having to comprising each other. <O</O

                Ralph,

I ran "Modrowska Zofia" through a Polish translator and it came back with "Sofia Modrowska" which, on the surface, would appear to be a person's name. In the photo, the Polish Eagle appears to have a Crown, but its hard to tell? If so, this would indicate a Pre-communist marking, as once the communists took over in Poland, the crown atop the Eagle was omitted.

                Chuck

Hey Chuck...thanks for some insight about the crown on top of the eagle...I did not know that. And in ref to the name I think your are right that it is a person's name...but right now I am coming up empty as to who it might be.

Hey Øyvind...thanks for your reply and comments...I hope this forum can convert you over to collecting communist items...

Have some already, but that is taken from the battle field.

Here is a picture of some of it.

                      Cheers

Hey Øyvind...thanks for sharing items from your collection especially the Soviet book and badge/pin...

But I need to ask what weapon is in the photograph...is it a pistol or flare gun...I ask, because I have not seen that one before...

Also...I know this is not the forum for WWII items, but the badge on the bottom right (the animal badge)...is it of the Galicia Division???

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum, but I got a bit carried away!
Everything you see in this picture come from the same man, a Norwegian in the WSS "Frw Legion Norwegen", its a russian flare gun, and it works! The tab is a "Frw leg Norwegen tab"

                          Cheers
