    Some New Divisional Cap Badges

Here are a few items I picked up recently.

The first is a cap badge for the 122nd Infantry Division. It was formed in 1940 and first saw action in Russia with Army Group North. In 1942 it was part of the force to relieve the Demyansk pocket. In May 42 it broke the siege of Kholm. It would continue to serve in the east until the end, finally surrendering in the Courland pocket.

The next item is a cap badge for the 715th Infantry Division. This unit was activated in Apr 41 and sent to SW France. It was sent to Italy in Jan 44 to counter the invasion at Anzio. It would fight in the Gothic line battles until it was sent east in early 1945. It surrendered in Czech.

I recieved a copy of the document that came with the badge.

The last item is a stick pin for the 11th MG bn. I think this was produced in 1940. It shows the original unit as the 11th MG BN. In 1940 it became the 36 Aufklarung Abt, 36th Infantry (later Panzergrenadier/Volks grenadier Div). Lahr was the units home station.

8 PZ ABT- Not 100% positive this is the unit cap badge. I picked up the exact badge at the SOS from a guy who said he got it from a vet. Called it a Dutch badge and cheap. So I took a chance.
