Uboat badge: real or fake?

could anyone tell me if this badge is real or fake'

Hi Val,

This is the third example I've seen of this high-end reproduction based upon the fake Orth badges, and which apparently has been linked to Staegemeir in the past. Aside from the fact that it's a Tombak alloy, the striation pattern on the wreath ribbon is a giveaway, but I've seen at least one example with the striations ground down to hide that clue.

The oblique view shows that the faker did a pretty decent job imitating the early Juncker-style setup.

Here's the more common "zinc" version of this fake "f.o." U-Boat.

When you look closely at the propellors, you can see that Tombak fakes are similar to the fake zinc f.o. and different from the genuine Orth zincer.
