    Rare Crusher

    Hello all,

I want to share pictures of this quite rare crusher, we have anyhow never had another.

It was found outside Rome in the 1960´s.

It is made with a fieldgrey rayon top which is now very faded from sun to tan. Unfortunately it have gotten some slight damage but still it must rate as a very rare one.

I am interested seeing pictures of similar ones or even better a period photo of one in wear.

The cap is made by quality maker Wilhelm Welhausen in Hannover and both sweatband and sweatshield bear his mark. Cap looks to have had a chincord at some time, probably as issued as it was taken of directly, it can be seen as it never made any markis in the leather Peak.

The one you refer to is also a Wm. Welhausen, same material but different/replaced insignia.

Interesting how this stuff always ends up being sold as "untouched".

I emailed Peter at germanmilitaria about the crusher and he said he would update the sales description with the information about that rayon top crusher but it never was changed. I tried to put that whole grouping back together but the consigner/owner and I couldn't come to what I felt was a reasonable price for the rayon topped INF crusher. It was less than what is being asked for it now, but still felt it was too high.

@PVL its a uncommon top but the damage is pretty bad which will hurt the value for sure. It displays well with the majority of the damage being to the back. Matt
