    Tinnie worn on Wehrmacht uniform

    Hello All:

Have a look at this link. It shows a young soldier with a newly awarded EKII and what looks like a tinnie from Grimma 1935. Any ideas why he would be wearing this other than my guess that it was special to him so he dug it out?

    Thanks

    hey there curt

Well ur badge is a HJ sword , and u see the sword is similary to the sword on the postdammer badge but thats just a detail however its a honnor badge for the marthyr whitin the ranks of HJ . Herbert Norkus (July 26, 1916 – January 24, 1932 in Berlin) was a Hitler Youth member who was murdered by German Communists. He became a role model and martyr for the Hitler Youth ( like Horst Wessel was i for the SA ) and was widely used in Nazi propaganda, most prominently as the subject of novel and movie Hitler Youth Quex. well the event in 35 was one of meny who was held for this guy, hope this help a bit.

    see ya mate

Thanks Carsten - I was going to follow up on what Norkus meant. Maybe then he was a HJ member at the time of the event in Grimma and that's why it meant a lot to him.

        Hi,

The guy in the photograph is very young, no doubt an HJ member who wore this badge as a reminder of his time in the HJ - which was compulsorary after the Nazis took power!
My mother-in-law was a member of the BDM, although not through choice, but my father-in-law got away with service with the HJ because he had a father in the DRK and had suffered from typhus when a young man.
No weak links in the frame,
What a load of crap Nazi propaganda was, people today are (hopefully) more sophisticated and can realise the rubbish they are told by thess political parties.

        Best wishes,

        John.
