The ARENDAL SS-helmet (What a history).

    Hi all helmet collectors.
Here you will get a bit of a history on a SS-helmet:

Here in Norway and Sweden this helmet is only called "the Arendal helmet".
Arendal is a town south in Norway.

    - For many years ago the owner of a car dealership in Arendal found this helmet on the attic of his shop, a part that had been horse stables under the war. See the pencil writing inside with signature and the text: found 2/8-45 in the field...

    And here it begins:

    1. Somebody found this helmet, wrote inside with pencil and put in on the attic in the horse stables in Arendal.
    2. A car dealer found and after some years sold the helmet to a collector in Arendal.
    3. This guy ended collecting and sold the helmet to collector Knut in 1995.
    4. I bought the helmet in 1998.
    5. I sold the helmet to another collector in Arendal in 2000.
    6. This collector sold the helmet back to Knut in 2001.
    7. I bought the helmet back from Knut in 2003.
    8. I sold the helmet to a collector in Sweden in 2006.
    9. The Swedish collector sold the helmet to Gisle in 2009.
    10. Gisle sold the helmet back to Knut in 2011.
    11. I bought the helmet back from Knut 25th May 2013.

Totally crazy how a helmet can go back and forth in all these years

Hope you like the helmet (ET) and the history.

    Regards

    Derek

I haven't been collecting as long as most people but I don't understand why people buy back things they sell off.

BUT that is still a great story and a fantastic helmet.

That's an amazing M40 ET SS. Congrats on getting it back.

Would the previous owner be King Knut?

Super helmet. It hasn't come to Canada yet, so there is still a journey ahead of it LOL.

Mostly this helmet went back and forth between me and Knut.
We used it as a "bank". When I needed money I sold it and when I had money I bought it back

I never heard anybody call him King Knut
Knut is a well respected collector here in Norway, collecting nice items from both sides - SS front fighters and Norwegian freedom fighters.
