    1860 Army Colt grip markings

I picked up an 1860 model Colt Army manuf. in 1864. Anyway it had been in one family (unfortunately the guy I got it from who got it from the old family member didn't ask anything about origin) for most if not all it's history. there are personalized markings on the grip that could I suppose be initials of a name but I think it looks like a ranch brand -- Rocking I or H. what do you think?

I don't suppose that could be any kind of military unit designation? Looks more like a brand but who knows.

I agree, it looks far more like a brand than anything else. If you can find the area it originated from, they have brand books that you can look it up in.

Thanks Gary I'll try to narrow it down.
