I recently acquired a mouse grey wrap from Mike at Virtual Grenadier. When I received it I was struck by how light weight the garment actually was. I read threads on these rare wraps here on the forum and immediately became fascinated with them. In many instances they were discussed within the context of 2nd pattern HBT and denim wraps. As far as I know, there are scant few examples surviving in collections today and true knowledge about them is scarce. I am starting this discussion in the hope that something more could learned about them. Mine is constructed of what appears to me as some sort of light weight cotton. Here are a few questions about the origins and nature of these garments that perhaps can be discussed further:
1) Did the mouse grey wrap exist in a factory made configuration without the pocket?
2) Is 1943 the earliest known date for the existance of these mouse grey wraps?
3) mouse grey wraps are very light weight. Is it known if they served any unique purpose?
4) Was the mouse grey wrap intended to be a strictly "warm weather" garment?
5) Is it true that all known mouse grey wraps passed through the same depot?
6) Are they simply a variation of the second model HBT family of wraps?
7) Are surving photos of them in wear giving any concrete evidence as to where they were primarily used?
