I have a minty Bosch lamp that I would like to display attached to the base as used on tanks. I remembered seeing repros in aluminum being sold through Heereszeugamt on Ebay, but they tell me now that the product was discontinued 2 years ago due to the death of the guy who used to make them. Anyone know of an original or repro that is available? For that matter, I am also lacking the black-out cover, which I would like to find as well.

I never found any left-over repros, but I got an original base, so that is solved. Now as the days are a bit gloomy here in Germany, I'm hoping to light up my world a bit with these. But I'm an oaf when it comes to electrical stuff and need some guidance from electrically enlightened people. The one on the left is a no-brainer, as only 2 cords have been left and the other two cut back. However the right one with the base has 4 cords coming out (2 black cords and 1 white another in red). Are the black cords grounds, and am I supposed to hitch the red and white cords to the DC 12Volt source? If the blacks are to be grounded, where should they go?Attached Files

Hello Nick,
Best way is to test resistance between each cable and the 12v lamp socket. At least one should be ground (for 12v negative from vehicle body) and one for 12v positive. You have of course to remove the glass and unplug the lamp from its socket.
Hope you have some kind of ohmmeter.

Waow ! You have 3 nice Bosch lights !
The 4 wires are for :
- one for the ground
- one for the night light ( small bulb )
- the last two for the main bulb ( one plain light; one with cover ) like on your car ( thus times are changing, let's say like on your car 15 years ago )
I have one Bosch light and I plan to use the 12V DC source from an old computer.

Thanks for the clarification! I haven't opened up any of them out of fear of damaging the screw heads, but are you saying there are two bulbs in there like the high beam and regular beam modes for cars? That will mean there was a switch for the driver to switch light modes. Do you know what that switch looked like?

You do not have open it !? You are not curious !
The screw heads are not the problem.
The problem can be from one rubber ( or cardboard ) joint/gasket that keeps glued and break ( so be careful ). Also the inside reflector with the ring.
But your lights are in VERY GOOD condition, so there is no risk.
And yes, this is just like a car light ! Sorry I don't know about the switch...
