IMO postwar - lack of middle belt-hook-strap

Very difficult to say 100% for sure. It appears to have been made using all wartime material and hardware.
The lack of middle support strap would not be an immediate disqualifier to me, very late war items quite often do not meet all the criteria that earlier items had.

Because of the length of the leather tabs I would say postwar..... but I can't be sure....

I observe in the pictures by Edwin that the front flap has square sides/edges, instead of round edges, as You can see in the breadbag WWII production (see annexed pictures of two exemplaries, early and late war).

For this reason I think this could be another characteristic of a post war production.

Not necessary ; postwar breadbag have exacly the same shape as wartime examples. The only diffrences are cloth used to made, metal parts and additional pocket ( postwar breadbags are made from much thiner cloth , often used chromed metal parts or aluminium).

The one which start this thread has many chcrakteristics of late war production ; thick cloth , galvanized steel parts and trift in workamshift.

In mine too. Never saw post war in such heavy cloth. Not east or west germany.

                          100% Postwar, sorry.

These are made in Eastern Germany using original materials. They also have an internal divider from cotton and sometimes these are marked and dated by an post war company, dates from 1947/1949 I've seen.

I will try to see If I still have the company's name.

                          Regards Jim

They were made by the company 'VVB Textil - Leder - Thüringen'
THis was a post-war DDR company who made items during the 47/51 period, also DDR/Russian caps etc.
