                It is definitely good to see this medal with the certificate.

                Matrosengefreiter is the Kriegsmarine equivalent of an Army Gefreiter/Lance Corporal.

                  doubt the case is original to the medal. No original Memel medal case has ever been identified.

                    I know bought it with case still uncertain if it came cased or not. Medal doc and case are original also for sale without case. This is the way i got it so selling i got it

                        Hi Tom, I know we've been over this before but as this award comes with the certificate AND is brooch-mounted wouldn't it make sense that this IS originally presented in a case ?


                        As I said before, in The Armourer magazine Jamie Cross speculates that on the rare occasions these came on brooch mounts they are to be found in the Hauptmunzamt Vienna cases left over from 13th March '38 awards.
