I'd say top dollar for this trio. But, at least it's genuine.

I wonder if the Fa ribbon has been raplaced? Im not sure it is original and it looks to have been stained before the mounting.

The medals are good, and IMO the bar of this Saxon NCO is probably genuine, but this is not a rare combination: the stains are so bad that I would wait for another bar to come along. BTW the price is also at the top end.

          Cheers and Happy Hunting!

            Hi Harold,

            very simple:

            ek2 30 euro
            Silver Friedrich August: 30 euro
            Hindy 6 euro

            prices are approximate

total on medals about 66 euro =$86 euro.
Can't go wrong here IMO if you think it displays nice.

However I always like bars without the Hindy as a Hindy bar is post 1934...

            Best regards,
            Michel

You should also add a LITTLE bit extra as its a bar,,Looks like it was dropped in Red Wine

One thing that bothered me besides the stains is the W, crown, and date on the EKII is shifted to the left but the reverse appears to be centered not shifted, did they make 2 piece cores? any comments about that? Also shouldn't the ribbons overlap left to right not right to left? ..... Harold

Another thing I've noticed from looking at the back of the medal bar is it appears to me they glued the backing material on the bar instead of stitching it on. I'm wondering if the staining is from the glue used and it has turned brown after all these years? Is it possible that the awardee assembled hi own medal bar?

I won the bidding for this bar and now await it's arrival. How do people get such nice clear close-ups of medals etc? Any special cameras? I try taking pics on macro with a tripod and use the timer to activate the shutter, but never seem to get such nice clear pics.

                      Update:
Medal bar has arrived and after close inspection I have come to the conclusion that the stains are from the backing material and ribbons being glued to the madalbar plate. There is no evidence of any stitching being used. Here are pics I took when it arrived today

here are pics of the EKII and after inspection I find the center core is solid and doesn't move. Can anyone shed light on who made the cross I can find no makers marks anywhere on the ring or cross. I hope these pics of the front and rear are clear enough. Thank you in advance..... Harold

I can offer no insight about the EK, but think the bar is interesting.

At the time, the people who made this probably thought a no-stitch bar would look really sharp. I would agree, if not for the staining. Same thing goes for the folks who shellacked that autographed baseballs and other things of that nature. We bang our heads against the wall when we look back and ask "why the hell would you do that!"

Hindsight is 20/20, as they say.

In my opinion the bar was assembled by the man himself. He bought the metal bar mount and put it together himself. When it was made it probably looked real good but over time the glue he used bled into the ribbons and backing material and then eventually turned brown. It was obviously not put together by a professional or jeweler who made up medalbars for servicemen and veterns
