The steps to made EKII 1939

    Hi all,
I found this pictures and I think they could be of help.

All are made on 1939 but unfortunally unknown factory.

1st Step: Blanking die for the "core naked" with major thikness and made from raw material strips.

2nd Step: The "naked core" is coined. During this process the low material thikness decreases on known thikness and the material expands due to compression. ( Ipost one photo that show bwttwr this thought).

3rd and 4th Step: Here the frame is bending with creation of "theet". The step before was the creation of a little raw material square with the EK form used to center this little square inside a frame tooling.

7th step: The frames before cutted from the central material are put inside to the bath for the surface treatment made by immersion.

8th Step: The combo (core + frame) welding zone. On this picture we see one welding method used, by electric welder, on other pictures showing above one issue of " Schwert und Spaten" is visible the welding process made by flame, with "bunsen" (flame instrument used to heat the tubes in chemical, gas only no air).

10th Step: Packaging zone . Here the crosses was polished and insert with band, pre cutted, inside to paper. After this packet was inserted in the factory bag.

(probably the madame produce one spange.... or not ?)

After this last step the bag is ready to delivered to one of the 3 big medals and decorations storehouse placed in Berlin, Munchen & Wien.

                        Close up of coiner tooling.

Is much visible the expanded material from compression, this coined tooling are probably made inside different factory and for this reason they present little difference between them. Difference visible on EKII cores like dates - hakenkreuz, font numbers, ecc.
Same thought is available for frame coin.

I apologize in advance if some things are not very clear, I hope to be well written in English, and the pictures do not show exactly all the steps for production.
I allowed myself to do this to give an order and a logical sense to the photos.

I was very pleased to share these things with you, I know many fellow collectors know these things better than I, but I believe that the purpose of a forum is to share experiences because they can grow.

I hope to be able to capture the interest and to have contributed in a small way to the growth of knowledge and I apologize again if they looked like a "professor" did not want to be, I am a modest collector lover of EK ... I think that this has got .....

                          Greetings to all of you

That's a 'manual' soldering iron as opposed to an electric one.
