    SA/NSDAP Ties,

    Evening experts,

Just a question on ties, were they always the same shade of "braun" as the SA shirts or was there some degree of variation? And finally chaps, how much is an original SA/NSDAP tie worth in pounds these days,

many thanks for your time and knowledge,

    Nutty

The ties that were usually worn with the brownshirts were a similar material as the shirt, and basically the same color. They likely varied in shade, as did the shirts, which range from a very light tan, to a golden brown. These khaki-material ties were likely no different. The other type tie was probably designed for wear with the winter tunic, and is a very high quality, shinier silk tie in a golden brown color. Every one of these silk type ties I've seen has just one part of the bottom edge that has a flattened border. Both types have an RZM tag attached. Not expensive, but sometimes hard to find. Keep checking E-stand. I believe the khaki ones are more scarce. IMO, they were probably interchanged sometimes. I'm guessing approx. $US150-$175-$200max

The true color is somewhere between these 2 photos. The closeup is the closest to showing the actual color of the tabs. It's INTENSE sulfur yellow, and very bright.

              Shirt

It's from SA Gruppe Franken, pre 1933.

Here's a picture taken in natural light that gives a good idea of the tie's true colour.

It took me ages to find one, courtesy of a WAF member, and cost $250.

                  Hey, nice Marine SA brownshirt!
I seem to recall reading a quote in an SA Verordnungsblatt that brownshirt makers were supposed to supply fabric to the tie makers so that their ties would exactly match the brownshirt color. The goal appears to have been to have the tie and shirt be exactly the same color and weave. Obviously, per period photos, this was not always achieved.

The early shirts were made of Imperial German Army Tropical Bolts destined for the colonies and a Gerhard Rossbach found a load of it in Austria and bought it for cheap...

                        Hello.

I paid 60 euros for my SA tie from the estand.

                        Regards,
                        Chris.
