Zimmerman U-Boat & Petz and Lorenz Minesweeper find

    Hello,

Yesterday I found these two badges in Germany.
The U-boat badge is the same as in the black&white picture and comes straight from the family. It's a stunning Buntmetall example, made by Zimmermann when I'm correct?, it;s really shiny

The Minesweeper badge has been curved (gewölbt) by the soldier and is also a nice Buntmetall example. But I can't find out the maker of this badge, someone who can help me with that?

    Thanks, Jim

          Hi Jim,
          Great find indeed, congrats
Tombak u-boat is Otto Schickle and tombak Minesweeper is Petz & Lorenz and it is just lovely
          Cheers,

I think that the Uboot could be a B.H.Mayer, it have typical Mayer needle and catch.
            It looks like my Mayer

Zimmermann, Schickle and Mayer have the same design

              Thanks both of you!

I thought Zimmermann because of the open swas, see this picture:

I agree with Varsity. It is accepted in collector classification systems that the 4 fully segmented arms of the swaz indicates a Zimmerman.

The Mayer has 3 segmented arms, not four.

Mayer-Shickle-Zimmerman all have the same obverse designs of course except for this feature of the segmented arms.

                              Hi John,
Thare are many discussions about that on the forums but IMO more likely is that Mayer and Zimmerman did not make any tombak KM awards and these very few known pieces marked for these makers rather come from Schickle's stocks sale.
                              Cheers,
                              Hubert
