    From Obermaier's book: Willy Noller was born Nov 28, 1919, in Schwaebisch-Hall. KC April 6, 1944 as Fahnenjunker-Feldwebel after more than 1,000 missions. One of the most successful pilots of I./St.G.2 (I./S.G.2) "Immelmann". Following his training, he came to 2./St.G.2 in the summer of 1942, flying his first mission on June 28, in Russia. He soon was among the best pilots of his Staffel and Gruppe, receiving the Ehrenpokal on Nov 23, 1942, and trhe DKG as Unteroffizer on Feb 13, 1943. After 10 months of operation he celebrated his 500th mission on April 17, 1943 in Novorossisk. 20 missions were flown during the Stalingrad battle. 800th mission on Sept 25, 1943, nominated for RK after 900th. Flew 1000th on March 16, 1944. Follwing transition to Fw-190 he became flying instructor, returning to action with 7./S.G.10 as assault pilot during retreat operations in Hungary. 1058 missions, 34 with Fw-190. Destroyed 86 tanks, 2 armored trains, 2 ships, 5 bridges. Achieved 2 aerial victories as assault pilot, wounded once, shor down once, bailed out. He passed away on Dec 26, 2011, in Erlangen.
