KM S-boat badge

I am looking for some help with this S-boat badge. It is a mid to late war example maker marked L/58. I appreciate any input.

Hi Stephen,

It looks like a "genuine" Rudolf Souval made in Vienna possibly from the late 1960's 1970's. Date of production isn't known precisely but for sure a post-war product.

And this comparison highlights why I'm not a big fan of the double marked R.S-L/58 badges with silvered reverse. You can see that the finish is very much like the post-war badge, and uses the same L/58 stamp. A likely inference is that the double marked badges with silvered reverse (S-Boats, Minesweepers, Coastal Artilleries) were manufactured shortly before running out of leftover wartime hardware (unless they were made concurrently as a "premium" line).

This is a postwar copy from Rudolf Souval.
The first you could look at is the catch, its a typical postwar RS production
