My question as well. I've never seen a badge marked "sterling" before.

                  This is a rare beauty!
This is a Japanese production silver badge for the vessels operating in the region!

                    Great badge.

I really like those Sterling Silver awards that were made in the East.

                      Really?

I don't collect KM badges but I would like to know more about this particular badge. NEVER have I seen a TR produced badge that was marked "sterling". If Japanese produced (the badge does show an oriental influance), I would expect it to be marked either 900 or 1000 as was normal for that period of time (1920's,30's,40's).

If real, please provide more information as I would like to know more.

                      Regards,

                      Chuck

                        Hi Guys,

They've been discussed many times before. Here's one thread:
                        http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...e+hilfskreuzer

You can read more about them in both Gordon's and Sascha's books. Naturally there are no examples of other lines of war badges like this because this was a unique (and well documented) circumstance.

                        Best regards,
                        ---Norm

                        P.S. Congratulations Matthias!
