Controversal Spange

Here is a spange that I bought and have had it looked at and also did a little research on different sites. I think in the past I even condemned this one because of the spacing between the 9 and 3. On one site this spange was shown with a Deschler spange envelope (I don't have envelope), I copied a picture and posted the envelope on the forum and it was declared good. I have asked a couple of dealers in Germany if it was part of the Deschler horde and received the answer that in the horde all medals that Deschler made was found. From another they said they didn't know. On the German Forum it was split between those that liked it and those that didn't because no one could put a maker to the spange or like me didn't like the spacing. So I would like your comments on this also.

Does anyone have this with the Deschler envelope?

Ok, Jim and Jon, here we go!
(I already told Jim my thoughts on this clasp)

I don't like the spacing of the date.
There's nothing straight on the clasp, it looks like it was cut with a Dremel-tool.
The swastika isn't square and sits to low
Somewhere on WAF one of these was shown marked L/11
The pop up very often, but only for the past 2 or 3 years.

there are other "ugly" clasps around, but this one misses craftsmanship.
I don't like it, but I think you already guessed that....


Who discovered the Deschler-hoard?
Did he add a handfull of these to make them credible for the future?
No one knows.....

Unless I get one directly from the recipient, with pictures of this clasp in wear, I will not buy one of these.

Here is one just like it that I had the opportunity to examine & photograph several years ago.

The measurements:

eagle wingspan 28.80mm
Spange height 31.44mm
width of trapezoid box 27.99mm
wreath diameter 12.70mm
weight 7.3 grams

IMO, this one is a fake but I really can't say that with 100% certainty.
