    Photo SS Panzer Division HJ

Bought an album of the SS Hitlerjugend Division, whom was a soldier in the SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 26 "HJ". I know most of his history, combine this with the album and it makes an absolute treasure. Couldn't resist to already give you a sneak preview. Please, enjoy!

True The one in the middle with
the Drillich uniform seems to have UFFZ collars
        or that it was removed?

Nice picture Bart I'm sure the rest will be interested also. I notice that nibody is wearing a complete dot set (jacket and trousers) they are only wearing the jacket or only wearing the trousers.

Maybe not enough set were issued, so they shared it, or it was a "fashion thing" ? Jacques

Thanks for the responses all! Jacques, it could have several reasons why [Re: I notice that nibody is wearing a complete dot set (jacket and trousers) they are only wearing the jacket or only wearing the trousers by Erwin L]. The Hitlerjugend members wore whatever they found or were issued. It could be that they did this specific for this photograph, so that all had something camouflage to wear at the time this photograph was taken. Either way when the Normandy campaign started, most of the youngster here would have been equipped with complete camouflage uniforms or found so. I remember the memories of a veteran from the Division stating that the Panzergrenadiers always had the most chance of getting camouflage uniforms and/or had a good nose where to find it.

This is the 'Dot 44' / 'Peas 44' uniform, right? and for the rest the Drillich uniform? (I am going to write everything in a Word document for further reference, so I ask to be certain)

Many thanks for the responses, friends!

Joachim S. (born 1926) - to whom the album belonged - got wounded during the Ardennes Offensive in Krinkelt. Interesting due the history of Krinkelt-Rocherath during the Ardennenoffensive. He survived Caen and Falaise then took part in the Ardennes offensive where he got wounded. After healing he was send to the Ersatzbataillon of the Division and took part in the endfightings. Surrendered on the 10th of Mai 1945!

amazing what these young men of 18/19 years of age had to endure!
do you own any more items from this young combat veteran?
                          would be very interested...
