Yes, I saw this too and was quite interested by it. Looks pretty believable to me, although I am not a document collector by far.

The question I had was that in the same grouping, the recipient also recieved the CCC in bronze. This was awarded in December 1944, so a full month after the announcement of the LW CCC, so why didn't he receive the document for the LW CCC? It is a typical Heer CCC document, and he would have most certainly been awarded the Heer CCC. We have no evidence of any receipients ever getting a LW CCC badge, but we know of a few instances where the award document at least mentions the LW CCC. This is not the case with this grouping, so that raises a question in my mind.

I saw this grouping as well and from what I see would consider this a period piece. This being a rare document is an understatement as I have personally only seen one other and that was a field issued variety.

With regards to the CCC in Bronze document I suspect that the unit was still using existing stocks of the original Heer documents for this award and likely the award document for the LW CCC was either never produced or finally made to the unit(s) late in the war. An example of the award doc. for the LW CCC I have never seen.

Oddly enough I had just posted some scans of a SB I have to a LW CCC in Bronze recipient and the PKA i. S on another thread so its getting a bit of mileage. Interesting to note he was also a member of the HG Div. (see following scans).

Here is a field document for the LW CCC, sold by Weitze a few years ago. I would agree with you that they were likely using left over stocks of Heer CCC award documents, but I would think that they would type in the words "Luftwaffe CCC" on the document. This we have seen on several other occassions for other badges that ulitized leftover documents such as the IAB & PABs where the bronze grades were instituted, and same with the LW ROAG badges when the Airgunner badge was institted (they would write in "ohne blitzbundle" on the leftover documents, etc. I find it strange they didn't do it in this case with the CCC document, but it could simply be they weren't aware of the new badge that had been created only a month earlier, or a simple oversight on the part of the clerk typing the document..

Thanks for posting the document very nice piece. I understand now what your are refering to and you are correct it is typical that there would be a typed in indication designating LW. In this instance I can only imagine it was an oversite as the document looks good.

Thanks again for posting the document as a paperwork collector I love seeing these items.

I think that both documents look good, but for a skilled forger that´s no problem, I guess. On the other hand, there is still more for collectors, historians etc, to be explored. One has also got to know under what circumstances rare items turn up.
