That´s the high steel/metal prices. You should have a look for these at the local junk yards or scrap metal dealers.

I know that metal robbery is pretty common in Germany . Is it the same in France?

The depth to which some people will stoop mystifies and saddens me. Nothing is sacred anymore.

Hope you find the thieves.........and shoot them out of a cannon

Disrespectful and ruthless scum who do these kind of things, it is getting quite common to find monuments and gravestones without their bronze lettering or statues, big and small, completely removed.

There are even morons here in the Netherlands who steal copper railway items that cause trains to derail!

The world is deteriorating by the minute.

What a disgrace! I hope they are located again soon!

However, with the price these things can probably sell for, it was a bit naive of the cemetery to not have them firmly attached to the ground somehow.

Definetly not going to scrap metal.

But as a collectible, value of these weapons is very high. This size guns are very easy to transport allaround EU area, probaply going toward Russia.

That sign was stolen on request of a Neo-Nazi, and not necessarily for the metal itself even though they wanted to melt it.

I hope that the stolen items are recovered and, upon return, are NOT put back on outdoor display at the cemetery but are placed in a suitable indoor environment (for preservation and security reasons).

Unfortunately, I too suspect that these cannon were "special order" for a collector; this does not appear to be a random act but, rather, a very carefully crafted heist.

Items like this do not need to be kept outdoors, rusting away. We have the same problem here in the U.S.: historically valuable items kept on outdoor "display", i.e. left exposed to the ravages of the elements. The heck of it is if a private collector tries to purchase such an item he will most likely be strongly rebuffed; for whatever their reasons are, most organizations holding such items would simply rather watch the object rust away than to see it go into a private collection.

To stole alive people is bad but to dead people !!!!

If it has been a collector hope not to be among us
