    Chaplain Visor on E-Stand

    Hi Gents,
In light of so many of these coming under scrutiny lately, it might be helpful to begin a discussion on this one:

When a cap is not from one of the makers with recognizable characteristics, it becomes increasingly difficult to make an assessment. Perhaps those in the know could comment on the detail of the cross...

I know this visor was bought on Ebay.de yesterday.
The seller had a General Visor for sale too which was certainly a fake, because it was mine before....

the cross has the nice "bend" in the lower X stitch that I like to see on the originals. It is silver, which is better than pot metal, and looks to be the correct hash marks in the lower part of the X

I like the cross--would love to see it in hand though

Interesting how they both have the same unusual sweatband...

Well, I think we have to draw an unfortunate conclusion from this comparison- made by the same hand...

A bit of irony wouldn't you say? But they look like twins to be sure

I am betting a lot more of these are going to surface. I know once Mark Hayden's book came out, there was a lot of interest in loose metal crosses. I had four of them, all original standard type, which sold quickly when I sold my German collection. They most likely adorn rebuilt caps right now

I do not want to trigger a fierce debate, but this is what happens when we defend indefensible caps: for example, everything is explained (such as incredible combinations of embroidered officer's caps badges on troops' visors) with the so-called upgrade. There's probably someone on the forum and on eBay using various nicknames.
