Couple of NSKOV Pins

Thought I'd share these...these are vet bringbacks from my wife's Grandfather, a Canadian who fought in France. My in-laws gave them to me last time he was down visiting, all they knew was they came off a dead guy, and even then who knows? Just thought it was cool, as I have no military heirlooms from my side of the family

can anyone tell me about the one on the right? I know there were 4 or 5 different border colors, but have been unable to determine the purpose of the actual badge or color system, I just find them occasionally on dealer sites. thanks

Been a few years since I got these, and still haven't learned anything definitive about the honor badges. Has any new info been discovered in the last few years? I read in another thread about the theory that they were a token of gratitude for contributions to the organization, etc
