    SS Supporters Stick Pin

I have a question about these SS Supporters Stick Pins .
Why is ever reference I read about these pins
says they are Manufactured by Hoffstatter when the accompanying
photos clearly show the reverse mark Deschler?

Looks like an auto to me Jimmy.

Don't know what references you have been reading but all those I have read and all the posts on the SS forum here on WAF confirm that Hofstatter made the general issue numbered pins and that Gahr made the more expensive private purchase variety. Both are recognized makers.

      Who is who?

Thanks Joe, I know that what all the threads here and elsewhere say, that Hofstatter made them but all their referenced pictures show that it is marked Deshler. What part did they play?
And why would they put their name on someone else's product? I am missing something.
Here is one of many I found.

Interesting that there is no explanation that I can find to explain the Deschler marking.

Jimmy- SS Membership pins were made by Hoffstatter and Gahr, what you have pictured there is an SS Financial Supporter's pin which were indeed made by Deschler,

          Jimmy,

There are two types of SS pin.

The pin you refer to and which you provide a link for is the SS-FM supporters pin ("Fördernde Mitglieder der SS") which was awarded to those persons who gave money to help financially support the SS. This pin was indeed made by Deschler.

The other pin, the SS-ZA (SS-Zivilabzeichen), was worn by actual members of the SS whilst in civilian clothing. This is the pin that Joe refers to that was made by both Hofstätter and Gahr (pictured below).

OOOPS....Looks like John posted whilst I was typing. Sorry for the duplication!

Jimmy, please excuse my approaching senility. It was 10pm and obviously my nurse hadn't wheeled me to my room before I made that comment showing that I truly didn't pay attention to "title" of your posting. I recognized "stick pin" rather than "supporters stick pin", and thought of the SS-ZA or Zivilabzeichen- SS-membership pin. But John and Greg were on the ball there. Sorry if I confused you. I certainly was.

              THanks Guys

All you guys are great & I stay confused. Joe you must be right down the hall.
Now I understand the distinction between the two and their makers.
Thanks for sorting that out for me from the "senile wing."
