        Hi Don,

Nice find. Not the best PAB design arround but definitely one of the rarer variants. The maker of this variant most likely will remain unknown. Just for the record is there a raised guide line surrounding the hinge area on this PAB or am I imagining things?

          Hi Don,

Nice PAB! Did you find it locally, or elsewhere?

          Regards,

Thanks Philippe. No raised guideline, just how the solder butts up to the edge of the hinge.

ps- ugly or not you have to have one sooner or later if you want them all.

                  small dish comparison

Received a second small dish pab today and was treating it for zinc rot when I noticed the dish on the back was smaller than my first one. Here they are side by side. They weigh the same and measure the same, just one dish is noticeably larger than the other.

The backs. Even the pins are set at the same angle.

                        Hi Don,

Don't tell me I have to start looking for different dish sizes too

Interesting, never noticed that difference, this probably only becomes apparent when you have two of them side by side. The small "small" dish variant looks like a very nice badge. The remaining Bronze finish is still clearly present.

I wouldn't have a clue to why these dishes have different sizes. I already would be happy if somebody could explain why it was even necessary to have them in the first place.

                          Hi Philippe,
I guess I have a small dish and a medium dish. Now I have to start looking for the mythical "large dish" variant.

Ok Don you look for the "large dish" version and I try to find the "micro dish" version, I'm sure it's out there somewhere Who knows someday we might even find a hollow dished version, preferable in kupal with cut-out grass and swas. Now wouldn't that be fun

                              Hi guys,

                              Some theories:

-the dish is there to save material

-if there are several dish sizes, this means that the reverse die (that has the positive side of the dish) met the obverse die at different heights

-the badge being thicker means the reverse die was less close to the obverse die when this badge cooled down

But why these two weigh the same is beyond me.

Do you have comparative side shots and thickness measurements, Don?
                              Cheers, Frank
