Schinkel B?

Dear Friend and collectors, naturally we know what a Schinkel B looks like however, here in Germany this type of cross is also commonly referred to as a Schinkel B variation, don´t ask me why this is but we know what we are talking about when we say Schinkel B without round 3, I´m sure you all noticed that we also described it in this way, nobody wondered about that. Not every forum uses the same names for the same badges.
Prices are naturally also a guessing game by such pieces, whats worth something to one is woth much more to another. What I will say is that we have sold many oversize EK2s, but I think this is only the second one of these we have ever had.
Thank you.
The MB team.

You're right -- I too have seen this cross referred to as a "Schinkel-B style" or "Schinkel-B shape" on German forums (I've never personally seen "Schinkel-B variation"). In fact this cross is just an unknown maker EK2. I think this is a terribly misleading trend on the forums. Even to call it a "Schinkel-B style" is a bit misleading. Should we call the L/56 EK2 a "Schinkel style"? It's got approximately the same overall shape as a Meybauer Schinkel, after all.
This cross is not a prototype, in the way the Schinkel-B is, but rather just an unknown-maker EK2 with a rather unusual date design and somewhat minimal curvature to the arms.
In my opinion, it's a bit dangerous to start calling any cross with minimal curvature a "Schinkel-B" and any cross with narrow arms a "Schinkel," as these definitions mean very specific things, and this cross does not fit either definition.
- Schinkel-B : an early prototype for the Iron Cross that was rejected.
- Schinkel : an early Iron Cross made with frames (or frame dies) left over from the manufacture of 1914 EKs.
Pretty soon every cross will be a rare variant.Best regards,
Streptile
Looking for ROUND BUTTON 1939 EK1 Spange cases (LDO or PKZ)

Giving " out of the ordinary" crosses a description like this only sky-rockets the prices.
I do agree the buyer (in the end) is responsible, but I also think in a case like this the seller has a responsibility to.
These crosses are rare, but I had 4 of these and sold them as a rare variation (which is correct)
I don't recall what they went for, but all went for less then 200 Euro.
if this cross was bought by a new collector you can say : :" he should have done his homework" , but I think that he will get sick when he sees one at an on-line auction or E-Stand offered at 25% of what he paid.
Prices are a guessing game, but in this case I say; not good, and very over-priced
just my 2 cents....

But I still think MB are one of the best dealers.
IMO this is the first item that have been overpriced on his site that I have noted.
His team are always very friendly and fast to reply/ship the items. That is far from all dealers that have a good a service as his.
So still for MB.
Other well known dealers have overpriced items also.
For example, Klaus Butschek sometimes list a unmarked EK2 for 150€ and a markermarked for 200€ They are mint, but come on!!
Just my opinion.
