    Luftwaffe lamp?

Hi guys, what was that lamp used for? FL number, so it's for the Luftwaffe. On the second picture is seen compared to ordinary Daimon flashlight. Was it used for ground maintenance? Or just general use light? Thanks!

Inverted the image from the inside, the text is better visible than from the outside:

Undoubtebly Luftwaffe, pritty sure it was intended for grounduse.
"Sicherheitshandlampe" (Safety handlamp) would indicate that it was specialy designed for people handling highly flammable or explosive supplies (to avoid igniting sparks!)

Good info (as I collect LW survival gear)!! But what is your source, as this lamp is not displayed in any of the books I have on the subject......?

Not long ago I asked about it at the Warrelics forum, too, but again its exact purpose was not found, seems it is not a very common device. From the discussion there I can add, that the maker is Dominitwerke, Grubenlampenwerke in Dortmund and they produced mining lamps, too.

And here is a picture of the inside with the switch and the battery terminals.

I recommend to post your lamp (or a link) also in the Luftwaffe forum here.

again, these lamps were used on the railways and in coal mines
These types Flashlights are also to prevent gas explosion.

PS: this lamp is also newly painted.

I am sure that you are right, probably the mining model was very similar, if not exactly the same. After all, in the mines are important things like durability, long time light and spark-safe. Same in the aircraft industry. After all, the company needn't invent a new lamp for the Luftwaffe contact, if they had a well designed and proven working model.

But the FL number is a certain mark, that it is a Luftwaffe item, made for the airforce and used by it.
