Hi Tony,
I've highlighted the area of concern in the pic, the weave above the fold line is the problem, which is I think is considered a sign of a fake/copy.

A bad eagle in my opinion. All of the classic manufacturing marks of a reproduction on the rear.

Thanks John, they are part of a roll, the guy I bought them off bought them direct from a vet who said he picked them up late 44 in Italy aboard confiscated German ship, I bought them because they were with the capture papers. Tim.

Interesting to know if they were listed on the capture papers, or just with them?
This is an interesting twist on this matter and I await a response from Johnny VDH, as I'm sure he'll notice this thread sooner or later.

Well I just had a Closer look at the ones I have
The weave line at the back that Jerry pointed out is mostly a bad sign

I compared this weave line with know repro,s, and this is not the same
I only saw these one,s in Kriegsmarine design

Well Do have a look at some comp.pictures that I made
First of all the back and front of an OS kriegsmarine tropical cap without these lines( IMO 100% original)

I also saw on the known repro,s there was a very hard to see thin weave line in the section I pointed out in this eagle
Wich is easy to see on original ones( also the eagle wich started this thread)
