    Need help on this one

    hey Guys,
I have a Wound badge here and I'm not sure what color it should be. At first glance I thought maybe that it was silver. Then when I got it, I took a closer look and it looked like it should've been gold. Any help would be great. It's maker marked L/57 on the back and has a round pin. Robin lumsden's book said that they should have the flat pin. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is the link.

    Hi

There is no problem with a round pin on a L/57 badge

Got any picture of the back of yours?

    Cheers,
    Ronny

Well I'm glad to know that it is legit, but what color should it be? What is the best way to tell if it is silver or gold (or even black, but I really think it was originally silver or gold)?

            Hi Dave,

From the pics, it looks like the colour at the base of the hinge and catch is Silver. This would be the remnants of the original finish. The zinc has lost it's finish but it's common to find the different basemetal of the hardware retaining the original finish.

            Regards
            Mike

Original WB and is looking like silver to me also...characteristic for this maker sometimes the silver is not looking 100% silver, other maker with similar finishes is Wachtler & Lange and so on...
