    Interesting photo!! Kav.Rgt. 5, 4 Kav.Div.

    Here's a recent addition:

"On the morning of the capitulation. 11 May 1945".

To the left wearing camouflage Jacket, Oberstleutnant Heinz Sauer, Kommandeur Kavallerie Regiment 5 "Feldmarschall von Mackensen".

Centre Major Wilhelm Ernst Freiherr von Cramm RKT.

Right Major Herbert Bullinger RKT. Although "blurry" wearing the cufftitle "Feldmarschall von Mackensen".

Nice shot. Anymore pics from this event? Where is the site of the surrender, and who are they surrendering to?

It also appears in one of the other German cavalry books, Osprey's i think. Will have to check later.

It's a cracking photo though, note also the small sleeve emblem in wear.

Do you know if these are the actual prints that were used in publication?

                      Simon,

They probably are as they came from a Kavallerie Archive and Kameradschaft.

Just checked and both photos appear in 'Cavalry of the Wehrmacht' by Klaus Richter, published by podzun pallas and Schiffer.

Richter gives various kameradschaften as his source for photos and those in the book certainly bear the same scratches.

No doubt these are in the book as well

Final roll call for the Regiment 9.6.1945!

Oberst Sauer and Major Bullinger RKT.

Although some are wearing awards, breast eagles have been removed. Bullinger only appears to be wearing his RK!
